Surroundings

Lively Grindelwald at the foot of the Eiger is closely associated with mountain sports. Top alpinists create attention again and again at the Eiger North Face, however, for active pleasures there are many other possibilities in Grindelwald. The quiet holiday resort in the Jungfrau region lies nestled in an unspoilt and unique alpine countryside at the foot of the world famous Eiger North Face. The village asset is its variety amongst an intact mountain world: the offers include outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and climbing in summer or skiing and snowboarding, sledging, winter hiking, curling and ice-skating in winter. Train trips to the Jungfraujoch-the highest train station in Europe- as well as cable car trips to First with Bachalpsee, Pfingsteg above Grindelwald and of course a ride with the longest cable car in Europe – the Männlichen cable car will excite you. Culture and sport combine in the World Snow Festival, the Skicross WorldCup in Grindelwald, the Lauberhorn World Cup in Wengen or the Eiger Bike Challenge which all rounds up the colourful offers as Grindelwald has something for every guest. The village is lively, sporty and active but always contrasts with quiet, idyllic corners to just be.
